Umerah Ahmed (writer)
Umerah Ahmed is a Pakistani writer, author and screenwriter. She is best known for her novels and plays. She is one of the most widely read and popular Urdu fiction novelist and screenplay writer of this modern era.
Her most popular book which I presenting the review here is "PEER-E-KAMIL".
Basically, peer e Kamil, is our prophet (P.B.U.H). The perfect one in this whole world and the one whole Muslim ummah loves.
It is really a life changing novel and this novel is very close to my heart.
The story of a novel is very strong and definitely very inspiring one which really can touch anyone's heart, while reading it. It has been written about everlasting love, the love of Allah almighty which emerges from the love of holy prophet (P.B.U.H).
The story revolves around two main characters "Imama Hashim" and "Salaar Sikandar". Who is a neighbour of Imama.
Imama's character is a very strong girl character in the novel. She is studying medicine because her dream is to become a doctor and she is very much conscious about her dream. Her family belongs to a particular sect (Qadyani) but after a while we see that she starts getting attracted towards Islam then she start learning about Islam from her college friends without telling her parents. And that was the time when her journey begins towards deep love of Allah and his prophet (P.B.U.H) with a lot of suffering and hardships on her way. She has to face many difficulties in her life Because I think it's not very much easy for any girl to left her home because of religion and faith.
And the second most strong and most important character of this novel I have ever read. I personally just love his character. The character transformation from evil to a perfect Muslim is just mind blowing. He is a man with 150+ IQ level with exceptional academic records and photographic memory and he is totally opposite to the character of Imama he is actually belonging to a liberal family and completely ungrateful of his blessings. We see in his character that he is in continuel search of extreme pain and many time he tries to commit suicide. Because he always want to feel that what is pain and then what happened after the extreme pain? He asked one question to everyone is that "what is next to ecstasy?" and he couldn't find his answer. Once he asked Imama the same question when he helped Imama to leave her home.
"what is next to ecstasy? He asked,
"Pain" she replied,
And what is next to pain? again he asked,
"Nothingness" Imama said,
And what is next to nothingness?
"Hell"
He asked again that, "what is next to hell?"
Then Imama shockingly staring him and said: salaar do you know what is hell? The ending of everyone's life. The place which has nothing ahead. everything is left behind. There will come a time when all this will make sense to you and you will never ask anyone what is next to ecstasy."
Time goes on and salaar finds himself changing. His transformation is complete during the late hour of night when he is tied to a tree at Margalla. There he truly understand the next level of ecstasy, the things that always eluded him. He spent his all night in this dark and scarry forest. He felt tiny insects biting him and snacks crawl on his body that was the first time when he prayed for him to Allah, ask for forgiveness. before this he never prayed dua anytime. and then he realise that no-one missed him, no-one try to find him. Everyone busy in their own lives.
"In life, sometimes we come to a point where all relationship cease. Where there is only us and ALLAH. There are no parents, brother, sister or any friend. At that time, we realize that there is no earth under us nor is there sky above but only Allah who is supporting us in this blankness then we realize our value and our existence is only confined to our being. And the time when we find our God the only one who is with us in this difficult time when we have no-one."
Furthermore, He experiences the unnatural and extra ordinary incidences in his life that connect him to Allah. And within 8 years he got a new way to live his life. He is captivated by Islam and made a firm belief in Allah almighty. In these 8 years he realised that he loves Imama and his love for Imama was so pure. The ups and downs, the roller coaster of emotions. That ka'aba scene has my whole heart when salaar cried for Imama in front of ka'aba..
And after reading this book one understands the explanation of verse from the Holy Quran: "Then Allah sendeth whom He will astray, and guideth whom He will. He is the Mighty, the Wise". (Surah Ibrahim, verse no 4)
This book is not just about getting success but success in right way on the right path.. Indeed, The true lovers of Allah (S.W.T) and His Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) are the successors of this world and hereafter.
